(More customer reviews)Hell Freezes Over has to be the most realistic concert sound yet available on DVD.I have the DTS encoded six-speaker surround system with a 55" Widescreen HDTV, so the video is better than what I can see or hear at justabout any motion picture theatre.I have found no other DVD that can matchthe production quality and sound, yet.Mostly due to the DTS encodingwhich is noticably superior to the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround on the hometheater system.Above technical quality, the Eagles themselves performtheir best yet.Comparing Hotel California on this DVD with their originalis like comparing an old Chevy with a Rolls.The old Chevy is a greatclassic, and attractive, but the Rolls has the ride and the class.DonFelder and Joe Walsh perform better than I have ever before heard them, andplaying the Alverez classical guitars on the Hotel California cut ishands-down, just the best version ever.Glenn Frey and Don Henley giveimpressive performances, and Timothy B. Schmidt also is at his best ever onbass and vocals.I watch it again and again.There is just no comparisonto the sound of the DTS DVD and the CD of this same album.I have both andthe CD is always a letdown after hearing the DVD.Well worth the price,and a DVD you will listen to again and again.

Best of Creedence Clearwater Revival (Piano / Vocal / Chords) Review

(More customer reviews)I love this book!I have been a fan of CCR for a long time, and trying to play Fogerty's guitar parts just from internet tabs and/or by ear, is extremely difficult.The Guitar Recorded Versions tab book is easy to read, has the all of the lyrics and multiple guitar parts all together. There are chord diagrams at the beginning of every song as well.I have been playing for maybe a year now, and this is my favorite tab book because of the readability, quality of print, layout of the information...and of course, it's Creedence.

For the money, it's hard to beat any of the Guitar Recorded Versions tab books from Hal Leonard, and the Best of CCR is no different.Highly recommended!

(More customer reviews)disclamer. i'm tom's friend and colleague. but if you want to read about a real life in rock and roll and look at the pictures that go with it, "roadwork" is the book. the stones, the who, the eagles, the james gang, so many more...tom knows them, travelled with them, photographed them. and there's no hyperbole here, folks...just the straight story from a guy who lived the life, starting in the sixties in london and continuing on 'til today. and yeah, the story is captivating, but what will get you and what will stick with you long after you close the book,...are the pictures. candid, black and white photographs. in hotel rooms, backstage, airports, cars, dressing rooms, recording studios. minus the flash bulbs and the hair stylists. i was reminded of something i've always loved about tom's rock and roll photographs...the fact that you get a holistic view of what was going on. his camera pays the same respect to the roadies and the groupies as it does to the musicians. this is the real deal, folks. take it from me, buy this book. i did.

Classic Rock Fake Book - 2nd Edition Review

(More customer reviews)Fake Books have just the melody/lyric line (staff); piano players will only have their right hand busy; the left "fakes" it. And there's no tabs and songs are in their actual keys, so you need to read music.But if you do and either are good at theory or play a non-chording instrument, they're fantastic.

This book has a very impressive selection of songs, but "Classic Rock" doesn't describe it.More like "SuperHits of the 70s and 80s".There's some rock, some pop, some glam, a pretty wide variety of stuff people will likely request or that you might enjoy playing, but it's not all "rock" and certainly not "classic rock" - it's got songs from Heart, Bon Jovi and Jefferson Starship, fer cryin' out loud!Very playable stuff.

I enjoy this book a lot.I also enjoy the Disney Fake Book and the Ultimate Fake Book; there's not much overlap between them.The breadth of styles (again, it's not all classic rock) is a nice touch, and most of the songs were really big hits at one time. There are some omissions and excesses.No Dire Straits, but 22 Beatles songs.Six Elton John, but no Candle/Funeral for a Friend?No Led Zeppelin but FOUR Lennon/Ono (and one Lennon solo) songs?But on average it's a great collection.

(More customer reviews)"BOB DYLAN Made Easy for Guitar" is more title than description.Featuring 22 songs ranging from the well known (Tangled Up in Blue), to the obsure (Man Gave Names to All the Animals), Dylan Made Easy doesn'tgive any hints or suggestions to accomplish that promise.This is simply asongbok featuring Dylan's material in their orginal keys;however, thesongs are notatated with chords and rythm slashes.The songs themselvesare not necessarily easy. Most songs quite often contain barre chords orwould be easy to play with barre chords or capo's.I was hoping that thisbook would explain simpler, easier, methods to obtain the melodies andrythms that pervade Bob Dylan songs. This book is good is a fairly goodsongbook if your looking for a variety of Dylan material.

Angela Lansbury is an old hero of mine, or was - until like Bernadette Peters she went sondheim.When Richard Burton confused infer and imply in his liner notes on his LP of Hamlet, and when nobody involved in the production of Sugar (not even Cyril Ritchard or Jule Styne whom I had previously admired) knew the difference between lay and lie - talent don't make ya smart!But in this, in her pre-sondheim days, Lansbury was wonderful.She had some music to sing.

More than 65 of their greatest and well known songs (including some rarer live performances) are laid out in sheet music form, showing chords, shapes, tempo and full lyrics. Very easy to follow and play, and not encumbered with pages of non relevant information, this is a pure musicians aid, rather than anything else. Alphabetical contents page helps you jump straight to selected favorites, and although some songs run over 6 pages in sheet form, which can be a little distracting and disruptive when trying to follow with guitar, this is a great buy. Anyone who has ever purchased individual songs in sheet form will also enjoy the exceptional value for money of this collection.
