She takes it even outside to use when she plays outside! The red color is very cheerful and goes with every thing by going with nothing. ;-) We are very happy with it. (More customer reviews)I ordered 2 of these stands for my jazz studio because I prefer the Manhasset brand to others.This is a good stand, but for a stand designed to hold multiple music items and scores I was surprised at it's ability to handle the weight.The stand cannot hold the weight of a 2" binder that contains 40 pages and starts to droop.I either have to remove pages or deal with pulling the stand up repeatedly.

It's actually really nice! Far sturdier than I would have imagined. Folds up into a nicely compact package.

Hamilton KB50 Sheet Music Stand Review

Why on earth Hamilton Corporation markets a music stand with a non-adjustable music shelf is beyond me.I tried a brand new one that a friend had just purchased, but wanted to sell cheap.He hadn't realized it came with a fixed shelf angle when he bought it, but didn't tell me that when he offered it for sale.

The first "feature" I didn't like was that it used a knob to lock-in the stand height.(Am used to Manhasset stands and the better Hamilton stands, which have no knobs.)The knob works fine in most situations, such as home use.However, when you have to stand up and play at a gig because of an individual solo or the section is featured, and need to quickly raise the stand with one hand, you can't do it with the KB50.Even worse, if you try to raise the stand by pulling up on the music shelf, the whole shelf can come off.

I then tried to adjust the shelf angle to my liking, which, of course, wasn't possible.(The top couple of inches of the stand's "pole" is flattened and bent backwards to slip into a receiving slot in the music shelf.) At many rehearsals or gigs, adjusting my music shelf angle at least once is needed.For example, the music is at the very bottom of a photo-copied page.So, a fixed angle shelf was a deal-breaker, even at the ten bucks he wanted.

If you don't mind the "knob lock-in" or the fixed shelf angle, and will never need to raise it quickly at a performance, this is an inexpensive and quite sturdy, all metal stand.

I bought the much better Manhasset Voyager folding stand for rehearsals & gigs, which can be raised/lowered with one hand, and has a fully adjustable music shelf; with no knobs needed for adjustments.

This stand is easy to set up and very light.It is sturdy enough to hold a binder of music. While setting up the stand for my second use, the bottom of stand came off the track.While I was able to get it back on track, not the greatest construction that would allow the bottom to come off. On the plus side, the part that holds the music is sturdy as is the part that allows you to vary the angle of the music holder.
The bottom line is that the stand is ok, its inexpensive and probably as good as you are going to get in the inexpensive practice stand category.

It arrived promptly. I have to say that I am really impressed! It is very sturdy and well made. It unbelieveably folds and unfolds easily and is all one piece. No loose, separate parts that can get lost.

The carrying bag is more than adequate. I anticipate that this music stand will last me for years.

Highly recommended, and worth the extra money over flimsier stands.

(More customer reviews)As both a violinist and a viola performance major I've been through several aluminum wire stands and been generally dissatisfied. this stand is lightweight, tall enough for a 6' tall violist to use comfortably and perfect at half height for orchestra rehearsals and gigs. I'd recommend it over a Manhasset any day based solely on weight and price.

Only minor con is that the rubber feet get torn up easily when opening/collapsing the stand due to friction. I compensate for this by opening the legs first and then extending the stand, and by collapsing the stand before collapsing the feet.

Buy one, you won't regret it :)

(More customer reviews)I bought this to replace a folding stand that was just not strong enough to hold up under the weight of some of my guitar books. This stand works great for me, and hold even the largest of my music and tab books.

The construction is much better than other portable stands I've used in the past, and has two great features that I really appreciate. One is it's height adjustable, and two is the tilting head. The tilting head is a real bonous on a portable stnad, and this one works great.

For the price this stand is a great buy that I would recommend to anyone, but being primarily a guitarist this stand is execptional. With the page holders tilting head and height adjustability this is one of the best stand purchases a guitarist can make.
