(More customer reviews)This is cool for a couple reasons. The book has musical notation, capo position info and chord indicator for capoed position and without. The CD is narrated by Tony Rice and at times he is a hoot. He does the songs at a slower pace that we mere mortals can appreciate and then at his blinding speed as well. He even includes the rhythm parts to practice with (slower versions of course). Who would have thought anyone could be accompanied by Tony Rice! After practicing a few of the songs in this book, I found myself more at ease taking breaks to songs I was playing for the first time at jams. It is probably due more to the practice, but I am for whatever motivates you to pick it up and play. Enjoy!

(More customer reviews)Tired of trying to get people to play more than three cords or trade solos?This small booklet and CD work great to expand your imagination and explore more complex changes than some modern blues. The booklet has somereal Jazz chords and scale ideas - such as E-flat mixolydian over E-flat9ths. The changes are like most mainstream Jazz with a modern flavor.
One caveat -- you need to be somewhat experienced as a guitar player toget something out of this CD and book. Things go by too quickly for someonejust starting out.
While practicing with the CD won't make you intoHoward Roberts or even entertain friends much, it is a great way to stretchone's imagination beyond the old 3 chord blues. Has tablature if you can'tread music, sounds good through a portable CD player and headphones - sonobody will ever need to know your secret admiration for Jazz guitar style. No help playing those solos either - you're in charge of picking whichnotes to play and how to play them.If you sit in with Jazz combos on theweekend, you're probably beyond Jazz JamTrax ( after all, you read thecharts and play it in your head before you even touch your guitar, right?).For the rest of us, for whom no band would have enough patience whilewe learn, this is a dream come true. My girlfriend liked the CD when Iplayed it in the car (without my guitar work!) - it's more interesting thana plain guitar class. I still enjoy the CD after many plays. 5 stars forprice and value overall, -1 star for a couple of corny tracks that wouldeven embarrass the producers of old CHiPs television show.Fun overall andworth the money.

It's actually really nice! Far sturdier than I would have imagined. Folds up into a nicely compact package.

Very hard to believe that it was only $15.

More Blues Jam Trax (Music Sales America) Review

(More customer reviews)If you liked the first Blues Jamtrax book and cd, you will likely enjoy this one as well. I think that this one is perhaps slightly more advanced, but still well within the reach of a dedicated beginner.

This book and cd are exactly what they claim to be--jam tracks. They are not method books or references, they simply provide you with one of the easiest ways I have found to practice (and build chops) and have some fun at it. The chord progressions are basic but provide a little more variety than the first Jam Trax.

They give you "tips" and this Jam Trax actually gives you a little more information than the first. It discusses and shows you some simple double stops, turnarounds, etc. They don't claim to teach you to play blues guitar or how to develop your own licks. They just provide backing tracks and tips for you to practice with. It won't take long before you begin to learn what sounds right, using the scales and patterns provided.

The tracks are in a variety of keys and different tempos. Some are slow and mellow blues others are fast and upbeat. You need a basic understanding of your guitar and some concept of scales. You will also need some basic chord knowlege and basic scale playing dexterity. This book/cd should be considered supplementary tools to your current method books or personal instruction.

As I said, that is exactly what the title and cover advertise it to be... More JAM TRAX -- something to use to practice. However, for the beginner to early intermediate player, these are really a lot of fun and easy to pick up on. It is money that will be very well spent.

As long as you don't expect them to be more than a practice tool, you will be delighted! Also, don't expect to hear Stevie Ray providing you with backing, this is really pretty simple stuff. That is exactly what I need at this point.

However, if you are an advanced player, looking for a challenge, pass this one by. It is not going to be complex enough and you will become bored quickly.

I got exactly what I expected out of it. I own two other Jam Trax books for Blues, one for Jazz, and one for Rock. I will not get as much use out of the "Rock" one as the rest but it is still worth every penny. You can never learn about playing too many genres.

The Jazz one is very good as well, providing jazz backing in every flavour I could want...blues, Latin, swing... This is really good practice material. Buy one in your favourite genre and you will likely agree.

(More customer reviews)I bought this to replace a folding stand that was just not strong enough to hold up under the weight of some of my guitar books. This stand works great for me, and hold even the largest of my music and tab books.

The construction is much better than other portable stands I've used in the past, and has two great features that I really appreciate. One is it's height adjustable, and two is the tilting head. The tilting head is a real bonous on a portable stnad, and this one works great.

For the price this stand is a great buy that I would recommend to anyone, but being primarily a guitarist this stand is execptional. With the page holders tilting head and height adjustability this is one of the best stand purchases a guitarist can make.
