When I heard he had a piano book for adults... and being a guitar/bass/vocalist type... I really wanted to check it out.Well, it's almost as good as having Karl come to your home.It's well written and focuses on the right things, and though I'm not playing piano like Liberace at this point, it's a great way for an adult to learn.

Definitely recommended!

Supertramp - Greatest Hits (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Artist Songbook) Review

(More customer reviews)This band is seriously underrated and often overlooked. I can't think of a better candidate for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or for a VH1 Behind the Music (we've seen the Journey story like a thousand times already). Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies are outstanding song writers. These transcriptions are basic and may not be completely accurate in certain cases but this book is still great and these songs are so much fun to play- especially if you happen to have a Wurli or a keyboard with a good Wurli sound...and of course a 12 string guitar. It pretty much focuses on the band during their classic lineup (the only lineup that matters)- Roger Hodgson, Rick Davies, Dougie Thompson, John Helliwell and Bob Seibenberg. The only exception is the song Cannonball. Other than the song "I'm Beggin' You" I don't think any fans will miss any of the less inspirational material released since Roger left. Maybe one day the stars will again align just so and the original band will come together again- at least to accept a long overdue entrance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... but until then these songs are a tremendous inspiration for musicians around the world and I highly reccomend this book.

(More customer reviews)Almost every song contained in this book is a goody, including the Beatles' Let it Be, Lennon's Imagine, Billy Joel's Piano Man and Just the Way You Are, Neil Diamond's Cracklin' Rosie, etc.They are all modified so that even just a single instrument/vocal can play/sing these songs, whichmake them excellent for solo recitals and for impressing friends andfamily.I wish that every book from the decade series was much like thisone in song list and playability.Also I find it incredible that so manysongs are in it but still the price is an excellent $15!
Definitely one of thebetter sheet music collections, I'd say.

The music notation is Easy Piano. I really like the large notation. It's better to follow than the regular sheet music. In my opinion you should have a good grasp on Adult level 1 to play through these pieces with ease.

Unlike a lot of the other beginner songs books that sound fake and barley recognizable, I was surprised at the quality of sound. I would definitely recommend this book to those who just want some songs to play for the family during the holidays.(Oh,yeah and if you want to save a few bucks always buy used. You can get the same items for less than half the price of anew one, Also, if you don't like it than you haven't lost much. Just make sure you check the company's quality ratings first, anything 97% or higher.

(More customer reviews)I absolutely revere Buddy Holly. this book, however, fell short. I was a little disappointed with the tablatures. The songs are not transcribed in keys Holly used. If this was done to make the songs easier to play, aretranscription might be understandable. However, fairly simple songs areactually made somewhat difficult. An example is Peggy Sue. The songconsists of a total of four chords in the key of E. Here, it is in the keyof G and somehow there are five chords including two 7ths. Peggy Sue, asplayed by Holly has no 7ths. Not Fade Away is also a bit convoluted andtranscribed in a more difficult key of E flat rather than the original (andeasier to play) key of E. I was hoping to learn some other Holly songs butI can only pick out a couple from this book since the transcription is soconvoluted. Having said all this, I enjoyed the photos and backgroundmaterial.

Before starting this course I simply knew what a piano looked and sounded like let alone where Middle "C" was.

Be sure to buy the books with their CD's where provided. It's helpful to hear the pieces played giving one an idea of the appropriate tempo to achieve. Having mastered level one I'm now deep into level two including Broadway Hits, Christmas Song and Alfred's Basic Adult Jazz/Rock Course. I also use Alfred's Basic Adult Finger Aerobics. I've been going it alone now for 15 months.

If you are hiring a piano teacher to help you with this course he/she can guide you with regard to tempo along with much more I presume.

Remember this is the All-In-One Course.There are other and older Alfred's Basic Adult courses be careful to look for this specific course.
