I am a classical singer and have been an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music for 12 years and I have been extremely impressed with this book.Even though the book is called "The Contemporary Singer", it is a valuable resource for any singer. It covers specific technical areas in a clear, direct manner but also includes wonderful guidelines for topics like practicing, vocal health and performance skills. In the CD that accompanies the book, a variety of warm-up exercises are covered which are very thorough and progresses naturally.I would recommend this book to the beginning student as well as someone who just needs to reinforce their vocal technique.

I bought this because it's one of the textbooks I will be using for my course. The first time I tried the warm up for all voices and the basic workout, my 6-year old son who could hear me doing it was immediately attracted to the lively workout and joined me without being invited---imitating all he could hear from the cds too.I truly love this book and cd.

Berklee Practice Method: Keyboard Review

Berklee Practice Method: Keyboard [Paperback]

This is a great book for anyone that wants to play keyboards in a band. Unlike a lot of other "learn piano" books, this one is really light on the hand-holding at the beginning, which made me really glad. There is a decent amount of theory and it is presented early on, which I think is important.

I inadvertently found myself in an indie rock band not long ago and this book has helped me out considerably since it's much more practical than a lot of beginner's piano books. You will start learning to improvise and harmonize with other band members very early instead of playing yawn-inducing songs such as Ode to Joy.
