(More customer reviews)This book is very useful to me. It contains three main components that I believe are very vital to good viola playing. The third position, fourth position, and vibrato. Now as all viola players know, if you play in a school orchestra, it is very unlikely that you get to develop those skills. so you're pretty much on your own. I bought the book to teach my self the positions since my strings teacher doesn't cover them. If you played viola past the beginner stage and wonder what you should learn next, this is you pick.

I have taken the time to compare the works in the books to their original counterparts and have found that they have simplified.In some cases I disagree with the revisions but in all, when played, they sound fine, and are relatively easy to complete. If you need it fast, like I did, then these transcriptions are easy enough and sound good enough to fool the average listener.
