Sittin' In with the Big Band, Volume I Book & CD Trombone Review

Sittin' In with the Big Band, Volume I Book & CD Trombone

The band on the recording is excellent. The charts are easy to medium difficultyand mostly enjoyable. Everything is middle register--no problem for either tenor or bass trombone. The arrangements are a mixed bag.A few groovy tunes, some overly repetitious Latin numbers, one ballad and several rather dated ('40s era) style charts. Several offer a chance for solos. There is also a slightlyjazzed-up March from the Nutcracker Suite (that has no rests beyond an occasional eighth rest).Best aspect: playing with a very good band.Worst aspect:some of the arrangement are dated and/or not very interesting.

This book is very good for a player who has played for a year or 2. The music is quite easy but sounds so good you will be whistlin' the tunes to yourself after playing them.. Lots of great ideas to use over blues changes etc. Highly recommended.Perhaps the person who gave this 1 star shoul;d take some lessons...

This play along volume is great for established players...The violin music, double stops and all, is nice and
large.. Easy to see and well presented... The CD is very good.....Highly rated for all very good violin players..
Not for beginners....Maybe they can make a CD for those of us who are just learning...Melody line only...
with a slow accompaniment for beginners.. and a faster one after you learn...
