(More customer reviews)For a student of film acting, this DVD is a rare chance to get good, solid, practical advice from a successful working actor.Mr. Caine presents information in a down to earth and entertaining way to both a panel of students and a studio audience.

My only complaint is that it should have run longer than 1 hour.I realize that the production was bound by the restraints of the television series, but as a DVD release more could have been included.

Highly recommended as is Mr. Caine's companion book 'Acting In Film'.

(More customer reviews)Told in simple yet compelling language this play tells the story of adolescents attempting to grow up andunderstand the adult world with all its mysteries, especially sexuality.The parents and teachers theyencounter however are too obsessed with being "respectable"citizens to be able to honestly deal with the thoughts and feelings oftheir own children. The result is tragedy for all involved.

(More customer reviews)I was hoping for a collection of fun, intelligent, and imaginative scenes and monologues for my kids to perform.Instead, I find a bunch of hackneyed dross about children as victims--victims of bullying, victims of bad parents, victims of society,etc.Scene after scene is about children who've lost parents, or children in poverty, or children abused.And the scenes are so over the top as to make the characters almost comical.The only thing designed to challenge children are the contrived plot lines through which the character reveals how she/he has lost her/his parents/grandparent/sibling and is now living on the streets/running away/one meal away from starvation.What child wouldn't like to tackle the monologue entitled "The Day My Father Died."Most of the scenes and monologues are also written at a low reading level.Yuck. The only reason I didn't give this pitiable book one fewer star is because there are two or three adequate scenes and monologues. I found a much better book of plays--Plays Children Love, Volume II.Edited by Coleman Jennings.

(More customer reviews)What a gold mine!This book isn't just for actors--it is a meticulously-researched, up-to-date and readable guide to living well in Manhattan without watching money flow through your fingers--it covers everything from haircuts and clothes to great deals at the opera. I'm recommending it to all newcomers, regardless of profession.If I had to find one small flaw, it's that I'm not quite confident about his recommendations for women, as--and he freely admits this--they rely on the judgment of his female friends, and the reader can't gauge whether these women share the author's ability to find the best, the least expensive and the most hard-to-find secrets of New York. Regardless, a minor detail in a worthwhile book.
