Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I purchased this book as I had a voice student interested in studying jazz improvisation/scat singing. It's been a long time since I studied it and DeRosa's book was a life saver. The lessons are clear, concise and designed for students and teachers alike. The book is organized in a progressive manner starting with the blues and working from there.DeRosa also included some great tips on introducing a new student to improvisation including which concepts one should emphasize for the beginning and which can be left until later - so as not to overwhelm a new (and oftentimes nervous/shy) student.I've been using the lessons with my student and I've found them really helpful and have seen a lot of improvement and increased confidence.I strongly recommend this book!
