Easy Pieces: Piano Solo (Schirmer's Library of Musical Classics) Review

Easy Pieces: Piano Solo [Paperback]

I've purchased this collection containing two Kabalevsky's opuses (Op.39 and Op.89) for my kids taking piano lessons. Kabalevsky's easy pieces intended for children are known as excellent scores in terms of pedagogy.

These few pages of really simple scores worth in terms of money as 250 pages of Chopin's brilliant waltzes and nocturnos - although it's not big money but it expresses how Kabalevsky is popular in music schools for piano teaching/learning (my kids' teacher also recommends Kabalevsky).

Printout is excellent as one expects, and collection has soft paper cover (seems that it's intended to be disposed after several music lessons).

Intangibles of Musical Performance: The Creative Director (Meredith Music Resource) Review

Intangibles of Musical Performance: The Creative Director [Paperback]

I had the delight of hearing Mr. Lisk speak at a workshop recently and his ideas will change your concept of teaching music in the public school! One reason for the success of his methods is the natural association with students' mental development.Instead of teaching music, he believes that all that needs to be done is to help a student discover their own musical intelligence (a la Howard Gardner). These techniques should prove to be a welcome addition in any middle or high school band room!
