(More customer reviews)First, it's a great collection. My only quibble is with the editing, specifically for page turns. As a clarinetist and pianist, I have to stop and turn pages during at least a third of the tunes. I'd really like to save a trip to the copy shop. Also, Freylach no. 15 disappears at the bottom of page 24 and resurfaces at the top of page 38. What's with that? It's good to have all these tunes together, though. Well worth getting, but you may need to make a run to Kinko's.

(More customer reviews)I was very dissapointed when I received this book.I was expecting ALL of the songs on the matching cd to be in this book, when that is not the case.NONE of the instrumental pieces are included, and my favorite vocal piece (which happens to have a violin part also) is also nowhere to be found.Honestly, while I'm sure the book still has good music, I'm not even sure I'll use it at all, as all the songs we wanted to use for our ceremony are not in this book.

(More customer reviews)If you are looking for a great collection of klezmer music, this has got to be the one. Extremely comprehensive, extremely legible, and some really superb tunes. A big and hearty thanks to the author who traveled Europe collecting these tunes, now written down here for posterity. The biggest bonus here is the CD, which has beautifully rendered performances of 36 of the 313(!) pieces, and really fantastic sound. In fact, the package is worth it for the CD alone.

Don't let the price scare you away, this is a vast collection that is more than worth the price. If you can afford only one klezmer book, this is it!
