(More customer reviews)Don Giovanni is a simply wonderful opera, but for this single-language speaking gal I was at a loss for understanding.I looked high and low for a good translation, finally deciding on this which has side-by-side readings of the opera in itallian and english.

It's easy to read.It has a good introduction and great footnotes that give you a little extra information to take with you as you read.Unlike other companions, it includes every word spoken, so you don't get lost when they repeat themselves!

There's really not much to say about it -- simple, straightfoward, and worth the money.

(More customer reviews)Copyrighted in 1996, you'd think that Bleiler ran into copyright problems with the world's most popular aria of the 90's. Turandot isn't mentioned at all.There are, however, Italian arias and English translations from 49other opera.
My Italian's not that good, but it appears to me that thetranslations are faithful to the Italian text, rather than having a focuson poetic interpretations.This is what you need if you simply want toknow what those beautiful Italian words mean.There are no plot synopses(nor did they promise any).It's short and sweet and well worth the price.
