Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This book has lots of information about the bass, just like the title says. It is not a method book, so don't expect to learn to play bass as the title suggests. Even though I have years of keyboard experience, I am new to the bass guitar, and have found some of the chapters on chords, scales, & musical notation a bit intense for a beginner. I wondered how a less musical person would handle all this information.
I didn't find the tracks on the accompanying CD to be very helpful, or interesting enough to make me want to practice them. There are a few short bass lines of a popular songs, but no full CD tracks to go with. But, there are also some full song transcriptions with the CD that are done well.
I like that this book if full of all kinds of useful information about the bass. For that reason it is a great reference, and a would be a great addition to one's library. That is how I use it.
