The content is very good and as described.Besides being pleased with the variety, I was most satisfied with the clear printing (the music being not at all cramped), and that it did not possess the "Merry Widow Waltz."The introduction contains a short paragraph per composer; for example (this is a shorter one), "In Antonin Dvorak's E-flat waltz (1880), the whirling tempo and alternation of implied duple with explicit triple time suggests a conflation of waltz and the Czech dance furiant." A sample of the contents is:

Invitation to the Dance, Op. 65, Carl Maria Von Weber
Waltz in E-flat Major, WoO 84, Beethoven
Waltz, Op. 124, no. 4, Robert Schumann
Valse Melancolique, Franz Liszt
Waltz in quintuple time, Op. 72, no. 16, Tchaikovsky
Valse-Caprice No. 3 in G-flat Major, Op. 59, Gabriel Faure
Echoes from the Snowball Club, Harry P. Guy
Viennese Dance No. 2, Ignaz Friedman

All in all, a good compilation for those whose library of piano music is not already extremely well stocked.

However, the binding fell apart the first day I owned the book, which is, of course, a decided negative. Were I less pleased with the contents, I would not have given the higher rating of three stars.I am hoping to find a large folder to transfer the contents to.
