I have bought this book believing that I would have a quick, but specific and helpful guide to maintain, repair and adjust my electric guitar, but I have ended up with something that gives only very general information about how to do something, but at the same time, avoiding to supply precise dimensions or measurements to count the job done. You can easily get much more detailed procedures and explanations with pictures through the internet without paying a penny.

For example, this booklet explains, for the stringing procedure, by saying that the string slack should be enough to wind the string around post 3-10 times. First of all, the good guitar players around me considers 10-times-wound-stringing-job as worse than a rookie. Second, you cannot wind bass strings more than 4 or 5 turns. On a guitar manufacturer's website, there is a very short video clip very well explaining how to string a guitar, by giving a very practical method to determine the slack enough for 3-winding around the post.

Another example is about the neck adjustment. This booklet explains how to make the neck adjustment, by a straightforward text, but it does not mention a bit about when and why to make this adjustment. Worse of all, it leaves the result to the "satisfaction" of the one who makes the adjustment rather than supplying an exact dimension to say the adjustment is made correctly. Many internet sites you can find gives exact dimensions to check the necessity of this procedure, or to conclude if the adjustment made is successful. If you also consider the fact that most of the players leave their guitars to technicians for such adjustments, there should be dimensions and measurements for correct setting of the guitar, rather than leaving this to the satisfaction of a person who will not play that instrument.

This may be a very long comment for a 6-buck booklet, but I needed to say all these because, on the booklet, it says "An ESSENTIAL Guide to Guitar Maintenance". For me, it is just another booklet to buy and forget somewhere.
