(More customer reviews)Warning: Many of the same songs that appear in Warner's Just Standards Real book. So I have paid twice for the same book. Extremly annoying.
This is the better of the two books in my opinion, wherever there is no overlap, Jazz Real has slightly more interesting songs. Even though it extensively duplicates Just Standards,I would still rate this book very highly for readability and choice of progressions and the entirey and uniqueness of repertoire.We sight read from it last night and we liked everything and there were no awkard page turns, each song is 1 or 2 L-R pages. We have only had to add 'winged repeats' in our copies. It's a must for busking or study of the essential jazz repertoire in one book. Customers were asking "what's that song" which is a good sign.A slight negative: I have never been keen on the "handwritten jazz" style.Although it's a stylish and pretty typeface, I find cleaner, more slender serif font easier to sight read especially when there is a slash chord approaching.Music engraving took hundreds of years to evolve so why go backwards?
