(More customer reviews)I ordered this book because it was the correct level for me (I am novice, with six months of weekly lessons), I liked some of the tunes in it, and wanted to have a play-along CD to double check that I was playing correctly.It doesn't contain double-stops or position changes.Just simple, melodious pieces.

This series supplies both a backing and performance track on the CD; the sheet music has both also, for those who are needing easy-easy (backing) pieces to play, or want to play duet.

The recordings on the CD are decent, played with feeling, and way better than some cheapie electronic garbage I've received in the past.The sheetmusic identifies which backup and performance song number it is on the disk (which I haven't gotten on some of my other play-alongs, and it totally annoys me -- I mean, how hard can it be to mark which song it is on the disk?)

The print-quality is good also, and both a viola and viola/piano book are included.

I didn't realize when I bought it that this book of songs is actually a sampler of a rather large selection of traditional playing-style books.By getting this sampler, I have narrowed down which other collection books I want to get:Jig, Reels & Hornpipes; Celtic Fiddler; Early Music Fiddler; and Klezmer Fiddler books/CDs.And Gypsy Fiddler, and Tango Fiddler, and...and...and...I'm in trouble, I think...!

Totally worth the money!Glad I got it.Now to save up my pennies for the other collections...
