While I disagree that playing through this book will turn you into a beast, it IS a good follow up from the basics, and a good way for the advancing beginner to find and isolate what they need to work on. The book is exactly what it says it is: 40 "intermediate" snare drum solos. The only reason why I didn't give this book 5 stars is because there are many books like this that came out before this book; while it is a good book, there's nothing amazing and progressive about it--and surely, that was most likely not the point of this book.

However, for a listing price of $7.95, this book is definitely worth it, ESPECIALLY for someone who is just looking for a book with trickier snare drum solos. Another alternative book you might want to check out is Mitchell Peters "Intermediate Snare Drum Studies" (unfortunately Amazon.com does not yet have this book, WHY??) or Roy Burns "Intermediate Drum Method".
