(More customer reviews)The stand is quite attractive, and if you are not attempting to balance a larger hymn book on it, it works very well. This is a good stand to use for light weight sheet music. The stand has a good range of heights and adjustments and adjusts easily with good-sized heads on the screws. Everything folds up one way or the other, reducing the stand to a small, light package. So it would be ideal if you need a stand which can be easily carried with books, suitcase or whatever (it comes with a black vinyl carrying case with a carrying strap) and it breaks down easily and well.
The vinyl case REEKS. Phew! Big stink. I left it outside to air out and two days later it still stunk. Some sort of awful chemical smell. Several weeks later the smell is mostly gone. You can put your nose to it and get a whiff, but it no longer stinks up the room.
I didn't realize how spindly this music stand was, from the photograph. Somehow it seems a bit expensive for what you get. On the other hand, if portability is your biggest issue, this fits the bill extremely well.
The stand is very attractive and would be good in a child's room. It's light weight assures that if it was accidentally knocked over, it wouldn't crunch a crawling baby, a small dog or anything else which might be considered vulerable.
