(More customer reviews)Author Guthrie Govan is a long time contributor to European monthly magazine Guitar Techniques.The magazine is available in the U.S.A as in import at large book sellers such as Barnes and Noble.The magazine is aimed at a higher level player than the various similar American guitar magazines.I have been following Guthrie's columns for a few years now.He is a master player and a master educator and Creative Guitar 2 is a must have for any rock based guitarist.The book covers techniques from alternative picking ( with numerous picking exercises that are fresh and useful....no chromatics here!)to emulating other instruments and eight finger tapping.I have been playing for 22 years and this book has breathed life into topics that I foolishly thought I had mastered.The information in this book is interesting and applicable to your daily playing.My picking and phrasing have already been challenged by this book.This is hands down one of the best technique based guitar reference books I own ( and I have an extensive library) and a must have in my opinion.
