This is a very good book/CD set, but beware that most of the songs transcribed in this set are incomplete transcriptions.Often you get only transcriptions of the breaks but nothing for the accompaniment for verses, intros, or outros. You will need to learn these yourself from listening to the CD with the origianl recordings, some of which are very scratchy. The quality of the transcriptions is quite good and the music is very accessible for a guitarist who can already fingerpick. The music is primarily in first position and the key of C although there are pieces in E and even in an open tuning. The transcriptions are given in both standard notation and tab; however, the tab is not quite standard.Rather than six lines for six strings, there is seven lines to form six spaces. Each space represents a string and the numeral indicating fret position is place on the space. This makes since from the point that the numbers are not obscured by the lines, but I found it hard to read simply because I am used to looking for the line and not the space. For me it was easier to read the standard notation. This may be a case like the qwerty keyboard, where an improvement is unwelcome even if it truly is an improvement.
