I purchased this book for my daughter, who is a third-year student.

There are some outstanding classical pieces that are great to have in your collection.I can also say that the collection is far more complete than I expected, having some great pieces that I would not expect in an "easy" book.In other words, don't confuse "Easy" with "Beginning"; there is no "Good Night, Ladies" or "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain" (or classical equivalents) here.

On the other hand, I can repeat, don't confuse "Easy" with "Beginning."My daughter was immediately daunted by the first piece (Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony excerpt). The range is well above first position.

Also, many of the pieces need accompaniment, and since there are other products that provide CD accompaniment as well as demonstrations, I find it difficult to recommend this one wholeheartedly. There are chords given, which might be useful if you have PG Music's Band-In-A-Box or some other means by which you can create a backing track.
